An aide to former Senate President David Mark has criticised Rabiu Kwankwaso over his recent comments about Atiku Abubakar and the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso had urged Atiku to withdraw from the race, arguing that the former vice-president should step aside.
The comments have triggered another round of disagreement among opposition figures.
David Mark’s aide accused Kwankwaso of insulting Atiku and damaging the interests of the opposition movement.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the latest exchange comes at a sensitive time for Nigeria’s opposition, with different political interests still attempting to build a common platform ahead of 2027.
The dispute also shows how disagreements over the presidential ticket could become increasingly difficult to contain as the election draws closer.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the opposition’s biggest challenge may not only be defeating the ruling party, but agreeing on who should lead the fight.
