Man Confesses To Collecting N500,000 For Acid Attack On Lagos Spa Worker

Zakari, also known as Abuja, has allegedly admitted to collecting N500,000 to carry out an acid attack on a female spa attendant in the Lakowe area of Lagos State.

The victim, Olorunseunfunmi Awosogbon, reportedly suffered serious injuries to her head, chest and hands during the incident, which happened on October 25, 2025.

Awosogbon was said to have responded to a home service appointment arranged through the spa where she worked. The service was scheduled at Lakowe Golf Gate near Utmost Care Hospital, where the attack occurred.

Investigations later revealed that she was allegedly attacked in error and was not the intended target.

Her employer, Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa, linked the incident to a dispute stemming from a past relationship between her and another suspect accused of hiring Zakari. She explained that the relationship lasted only a few months and was marked by repeated disagreements before it ended.

Zakari and another suspect, Owolabi Daniel, have since been arraigned before an Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court on charges of conspiracy, threat to life and causing bodily harm.

In a video obtained on Thursday, Zakari, who was reportedly arrested on March 19, 2026, confessed that he was recruited for the attack but mistakenly assaulted the wrong person.

“There is a man named Daniel who contacted me through a security guard and told me he had a job. When he said he needed someone to pour acid on a person, I agreed,” he said.

“I could not do it the first time because I was afraid. When another chance came, I mistakenly attacked the wrong person.

“The acid was provided by the man and the security guard. I received N500,000 for the job and gave the security guard N50,000 for connecting us,” he added while expressing remorse.

According to the charge sheet, the suspects allegedly conspired in October 2025 at Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki, to commit offences including threats to life and causing harm, contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The document also alleged that Owolabi threatened Ifeoluwa’s life through WhatsApp messages, an offence punishable under Section 232 of the law.

Zakari was further accused of unlawfully injuring Awosogbon by pouring a corrosive substance on her, contrary to Section 246 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
