
Investigation is currently underway in Niger State following the mysterious death of Abdulfatai Aiyede, a 53-year-old lecturer who collapsed and died while visiting a 25-year-old nursing student, Stella Joseph, in Minna.
According to the Niger State Police Command, Mr. Aiyede traveled from Bida to Minna on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, to visit Ms. Joseph at her residence along Niteco Road, Tunga. Shortly after arriving and consuming a meal provided by the host, the lecturer reportedly suffered a sudden convulsion and collapsed.
He was rushed to the General Hospital, Minna, where medical personnel confirmed him dead upon arrival.
Police Action and Investigation
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed that Stella Joseph has been taken into custody for questioning.
”The corpse is being examined to ascertain the cause of death. Families have been contacted, and the case is under investigation. Further developments will be communicated,” the PPRO stated.
Authorities are currently awaiting toxicology and autopsy results to determine if the death was due to natural causes or related to the meal consumed prior to the collapse.
