NAF Ramps Up Air War on Terrorists

​The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has signaled a significant escalation in its aerial campaign against insurgents in the North-East. Air Vice Marshal (AVM) MC Ekwueme, the recently appointed Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Tactical Air Command, concluded a high-stakes, four-day frontline assessment in Maiduguri, declaring that the military will maintain a “relentless onslaught” until stability is restored.

​The visit, spanning January 29 to February 1, 2026, marks AVM Ekwueme’s first major operational oversight mission since taking command on January 7. It underscores a strategic pivot directed by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to intensify the tempo of Operation HADIN KAI.
