A letter dated July 5, 2023, personally signed by the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba II, has resurfaced to question Fuji maestro Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as K1 de Ultimate, over his claimed lineage to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. In the document, the revered monarch expressed intent to honor K1 with the prestigious Olori OmoOba of Akile Ijebu title while explicitly noting, “We also note that you are from the FIDIPOTE RULING HOUSE where a candidate for the office is presently expected to emerge.” This acknowledgment, insiders say, directly undermines K1’s recent declaration of interest in contesting for the Awujale throne, which recent reports tie to the Fusengbuwa lineage.

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House, tracing descent from the late Awujale Alayeluwa Oba Theophilus Adenuga Tunwase, comprises branches including Adekenu, Adebiyi, and Adeberu, all traditionally positioned to produce the next occupant of the stool. The house has publicly insisted that only direct descendants hold legitimate rights, dismissing claims from distant relatives or extended kin. This stance intensifies amid ongoing court battles over leadership within the house, involving families like Adeberu, Olufadi, and Ayora/Tunwase.

Oba Adetona’s passing in July 2025 has accelerated preparations for succession, with the Fusengbuwa house turning to spiritual sessions for guidance on selecting a candidate. K1’s bold entry into the race, positioning himself from the Fusengbuwa tree, now faces scrutiny from those citing the late monarch’s letter as definitive evidence of Fidipote roots. Political and traditional observers in Ijebu-Ode view this as a pivotal clash testing the integrity of chieftaincy rotation norms.
