Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced that workers in the state have been receiving an additional N35,000 wage allowance since January.
This means that those earning a minimum wage of N35,000 or more have seen their monthly salary increase to N70,000 or above since the start of the year.
Speaking at a state function, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the state government’s commitment to supporting its workers during these challenging times.
He emphasized that the government has doubled the wage allowance to ensure that citizens are not left to face economic hardships alone.

Additionally, Governor Sanwo-Olu provided updates on the state’s interventions to alleviate economic difficulties.
He revealed plans to distribute food items to 500,000 households across the state through unions and local governments.
Furthermore, the governor discussed the ‘Ounje Eko’ initiative, which offers food items at discounted prices.
He mentioned the establishment of 59 makeshift markets across the state’s 57 local government and local council development areas, operating every Sunday to provide affordable food options for residents.
