Lagos State is intensifying its commitment to the health of its workforce, emphasizing that a healthy civil service is the backbone of a productive government. During a recent familiarization tour of the Folarin Coker Staff Clinic in Alausa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Dayo Lajide, reaffirmed the state’s dedication to providing top-tier, accessible healthcare to all public servants.
The visit, part of Dr. Lajide’s strategic oversight since assuming her new role, focused on evaluating service delivery and the integration of modern medical technology. She highlighted that under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, healthcare at the facility remains free, provided staff are enrolled in the ILERA EKO health insurance scheme.
A Paperless Future for Healthcare
A standout feature of the clinic is its transition to a fully digital environment. Dr. Lajide revealed that the facility now operates an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, completely eliminating the use of paper.

”We are totally on electronic medical records,” Dr. Lajide stated. “This enhances efficiency, ensures patient confidentiality, and allows for seamless continuity of care.”
Comprehensive Care at the Secretariat
The Folarin Coker Staff Clinic has evolved into a “one-stop shop” for the state’s administrative engine. Dr. Abdulrasheed Kolade, Director of Staff Health Services, outlined the extensive range of services available, which include:
- Specialized Clinics: Dental care, ophthalmology (in partnership with the Blindness Prevention Programme), and physiotherapy.
- Diagnostics: Modern laboratories and digital X-ray services.
- Preventive Medicine: Annual screenings, nutritional counseling, and family planning.
- Mental Health: The Lagos State Wellness Centre (LASWELL) provides dedicated support for stress management and mental well-being.
Driving Productivity
The government’s strategy links physical wellness directly to administrative efficiency. While minor ailments are treated on-site, the clinic maintains a seamless referral system to State General Hospitals for complex cases.

Dr. Lajide’s visit has been described by clinic staff as a significant morale booster, signaling a “Greater Lagos” where the welfare of the people driving the vision is a top priority.
