Lagos, Nigeria – In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended four individuals, including a fuel station manager, suspected of being part of a notorious armed robbery gang. The gang is believed to be responsible for the hijacking of fuel tankers and commercial trucks across the state.
The suspects, identified as Noble Saint Neokoro (44), Batomie Samson (48), Abubakar Ali (47), and Bitrus Ibrahim (42), were taken into custody in the Ejigbo area. Their arrests followed a confidential tip-off and weeks of meticulous surveillance by the police.
Manager’s Alleged Role Uncovered
Shockingly, one of the arrested individuals serves as the manager of a local filling station. While the owner of the fuel station has been cleared of any involvement, the suspects have reportedly confessed to their roles in a coordinated robbery ring. The revelation has sent ripples through the community, highlighting the audacity of criminal elements.
The arrests were confirmed by the Command’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin, who stated that the operation was spearheaded by the elite Tactical Squad Hawk. “The station manager is among those arrested. The operation is connected to an ongoing case involving fuel tanker hijacking in Lagos. NUPENG also helped in tracking down the suspects,” CSP Hundeyin revealed.
Connection to Previous Arrests
This recent success builds upon a previous operation on June 28, where seven other suspects were detained. That operation also led to the recovery of a hijacked tanker filled with stolen Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Orile, after it was reported missing in Surulere.
The seven individuals previously arrested—Izuchukwu Nwanoruo, Kayode Falodun, Ojo Ayodele, Ayomide Thompson, Ahmed Saliu, Igbalaye Kareem, and Babatunde Ahmed—were caught in the act of offloading stolen fuel at the same Ejigbo fuel station implicated in the latest arrests, thereby linking both cases directly. A fuel tanker used in the criminal operations has been seized as crucial evidence.
Police Vow to Rid Lagos of Criminals
Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, lauded the efforts of the officers involved, reiterating the Command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating criminal gangs from Lagos. “We urge citizens to keep supporting our operations with credible intel. The suspects will face justice once investigations are complete,” CP Jimoh assured the public.
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the incumbent Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation and the determination of the police force to ensure the safety and security of all residents.
