Five suspected kidnappers from the Yoruba and Fulani tribes were arrested in Kwara State after a fierce gun battle involving soldiers, local vigilantes, and hunters at Ero Dam in the Odo Owa community, situated within the Oke-Ero and Ekiti local government areas. The suspects had been terrorizing the area, prompting security forces to act on credible intelligence reports.

During the clash, law enforcement recovered cash in both naira and dollars from the suspects. Following their arrest, angry community members set ablaze several properties linked to the kidnappers, including their vehicles, expressing frustration and relief over the action taken. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) confirmed that two of the arrested individuals are Bunmi, a native of Odo Owa, and Ramoni, of Fulani ethnicity. The combined security operation successfully subdued the suspects, reflecting ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping in the state.
