LAGOS — A South Korean national married to a Nigerian man has opened up about a harrowing administrative ordeal at a National Identity Number (NIN) registration center, admitting it drove her to contemplate leaving the country for the first time.

The young mother took to social media to recount her frustrating encounters while trying to secure documentation for her newborn baby as part of the initial stages of obtaining a passport. According to her, the routine procedure quickly degenerated into a nightmare following alleged unprofessional conduct by officials and systemic administrative breakdowns.

The mother disclosed that the family was forced to make three separate trips to the enrollment center due to recurring hitches. During one of their visits, the attending officer reportedly fell ill, while vital information required to process the baby’s registration was allegedly trapped on the officer’s personal mobile phone and inaccessible.

The situation climaxed when an official allegedly handled her infant’s fragile fingers roughly while attempting to capture biometric data. Furthermore, she expressed deep concern over public health safety during their third visit, noting that the baby’s photograph had to be taken inside a crowded, poorly ventilated office where several people were actively coughing.

”For the first time in my whole stay in Nigeria, I felt like I wanted to japa because this happened to my baby,” she recounted, describing the entire episode as profoundly distressing.

The viral account has since reignited public discourse surrounding customer service ethics, systemic inefficiencies, and the safety of vulnerable infants at public data-capture centers across the country. Authorities have yet to officially respond to the incident.
