Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as “Killaboi,” has been extradited from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria to face prosecution for the alleged murder of Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan. The suspect was returned in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025, following coordinated efforts by the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau Abuja, and Qatari judicial authorities.
Nnayereugo was declared wanted in October 2023 after allegedly killing Onuwabhagbe at his residence in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023. After the crime, he fled Nigeria and released an online video purportedly confessing to the murder, which authorities described as a deceptive attempt to mislead investigators.
Previously arrested in Sierra Leone, Nnayereugo escaped custody during a prison break in November 2023. He later relocated to Qatar in January 2025 using a fake identity and fraudulent Guinean passport. INTERPOL’s use of advanced biometrics confirmed his identity, leading to his arrest in Qatar in February 2025. An official extradition request was approved by Qatari judicial authorities, resulting in his repatriation to Nigeria.
The extradition followed a petition filed by the victim’s family in September 2024, which prompted INTERPOL Abuja to investigate the case. Nnayereugo is now in Nigerian custody awaiting trial.
