Nigeria’s public communication landspace is increasingly defined by national demarketing. At home and abroad, many Nigerians instinctively highlight failures, scandals, and pessimistic projections worsened by the advent of social media. This reflexive pessimism has become a national behaviour, shaping how citizens see themselves and how the world sees Nigeria.

The second Monthly Global Discourse of ValidViewNetwork which comes up virtually via Zoom and YouTube on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (WAT) will address this rising culture of pessimism and negative self‑projection, examine how harmful narratives shape the national psyche and what must be done to reset Nigeria’s public mindset toward a more balanced and constructive outlook.

The Monthly Global Discourse is ValidViewNetwork’s signature global conversation platform conceived to bridge the gap between knowledge and action by creating a forum where global perspectives meet local realities. Through robust discussions and evidence‑based engagements, the initiative seeks to promote informed decision‑making, public awareness, policy innovation, and sustainable development.

The second edition is dedicated to shifting the national narrative from one of self‑inflicted reputational damage to constructive, solution‑driven engagement. The theme of the upcoming session is “National Demarketing and the Nigerian Psyche: Resetting Nigeria’s Public Mindset.”

According to the statement released by Dr Kayode Ogunjobi FHEA, FFAN, the Founder & CEO of ValidViewNetwork, , some of the forces driving the crisis include: “a deepening culture of cynicism where negativity is equated with intelligence, social media amplification that rewards outrage over balanced analysis, and diaspora disillusionment that often spills into harsh, uncontextualised criticism of the nation.”

The statement further affirmed the purpose of the meeting: “This second edition of the Global Monthly Discourse seeks to confront this issue of national demarketing boldly and constructively.”

Distinguished Discussants

Dr. Bolajoko Bayo‑Ajayi FNIMN, FNIPR is the President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), and one of Nigeria’s foremost authorities on strategic marketing, national branding, ethical communication, and reputation leadership. With over two decades of executive experience across multinational corporations, consulting, and professional leadership, she stands at the intersection of marketing intelligence and national image management. As a Fellow of both NIMN and NIPR, she brings a rare dual‑professional authority that speaks directly to how national narratives are created, amplified, distorted, and corrected. Her insights will illuminate practical, evidence‑based pathways for rebuilding civic confidence and repositioning Nigeria’s image at home and abroad.

Dr. Ike Neliaku FNIPR is the 15th President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Neliaku stands at the core of Nigeria’s reputation‑management ecosystem. A foremost authority on national image, ethical communication, and public perception, he brings decades of experience in policy advocacy, strategic communication, and nation‑branding. At a time when Nigerians increasingly amplify negative stories and unconsciously damage the nation’s global standing, his professional guidance will help clarify how harmful narratives spread and how they can be corrected through ethical communication and responsible public engagement.

Together, Dr. Bolajoko Bayo‑Ajayi and Dr. Ike Neliaku will confront the rising culture of national demarketing, offering expert‑driven roadmap for resetting Nigeria’s public mindset and restoring a balanced national narrative.

The maiden edition of the Monthly Global Discourse held on June 28, 2026, featured Prof. Labode Popoola FFAN, Executive Secretary/CEO of the African Forest Forum, Kenya, who led a rich conversation on Nigeria’s forest insecurity. He warned that “forest governance must be treated as a national emergency,” a powerful submission that culminated in a 15‑point communique outlining urgent actions for safeguarding Nigeria’s forests and strengthening national environmental security.

The session was formally declared opened by Mr. Olanrewaju S. Ogundipe, former NUJ and AUJ President and Chairman of the Advisory Board of ValidViewNetwork Media.

Participation and Engagement

ValidViewNetwork invites all stakeholders — professionals, thought leaders, policymakers, politicians, and patriotic citizens to participate in this vital discourse on Sunday 26th July. The session promises to move beyond criticism to explore actionable strategies for fostering a more resilient and optimistic national identity.

Participants from all over the world will be free to join, share their opinions, and ask questions. Those who would like to drop their questions ahead of the day may send them to validviewnetwork@gmail.com, including their name and phone number.
