The Hallmarks of Labour Foundation (HLF), a prestigious organisation committed to recognising excellence among outstanding Nigerians, Africans, and individuals of Black heritage, has honoured Emerita Professor Olufunmilayo Adebambo with an award for Outstanding Contributions to Research, Innovation, and Value-Chain Development Towards Food Security.
The distinguished honour was in recognition of Emerita Professor Adebambo’s trailblazing work in agricultural research, particularly her pioneering innovations that have strengthened food security and transformed the agricultural landscape in Nigeria. Her lifelong dedication to advancing science and innovation has earned her national and international acclaim, cementing her status as a Great Nigerian Role Model.
The award was presented during the 28th Anniversary Celebration of the Foundation, held on May 3, 2025, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
A major highlight of her career included the development and patenting of the “FUNAAB Alpha” chickens, an improved indigenous poultry breed designed to boost productivity and sustainability in Nigeria’s poultry industry.
