In a decisive move underscoring its commitment to protecting its citizens abroad, the Ghanaian government has deported three Israeli nationals following allegations of unfair treatment of Ghanaian passengers at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
The Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on December 10, 2025, revealing that the expulsions were prompted by reports of Ghanaian travelers facing undue scrutiny, delays, and disrespectful conduct by Israeli airport officials. The Ministry emphasized that Ghana will not tolerate any form of maltreatment against its citizens by foreign authorities.
According to the statement, the government’s action reflects its responsibility to uphold the dignity and fundamental rights of Ghanaians worldwide, while maintaining respectful and constructive diplomatic relations with all partner nations. The Ministry stressed that Ghana values its international friendships but insists on reciprocal respect for its nationals.
“We hold firmly to the principle that every Ghanaian deserves fair, humane, and respectful treatment anytime they travel, anywhere across the globe,” the Ministry said. It further committed to aggressive diplomatic efforts to ensure the welfare and security of Ghanaians residing or journeying abroad.

While the Israeli Embassy in Ghana has yet to publicly respond to the expulsions, sources close to diplomatic channels suggest that discussions are ongoing to address the concerns raised. This incident adds to the growing discourse on the treatment of African travelers within international transit hubs.
Ghana’s proactive stance signals its dedication to safeguarding its citizens and sends a clear message that violations of travelers’ rights will incur tangible consequences. The Ministry reassures Ghanaians and the international community that it remains vigilant and ready to act decisively when necessary.
