FUNAAB acquires new educational materials, charges students to take maximum advantage

The Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta has acquired new educational materials as part of the efforts to improve reading culture among the students and widen the scope of research by staff.

During an exhibition of some of the books recently , the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde emphasized the importance of cultivating a strong reading habit among the students of the University.

Speaking at the annual book exhibition organised by the Nimbe Adedipe Library, Prof. Kehinde encouraged students to make regular use of the library, highlighting the significant investments made by the University to acquire a wide range of books and other educational materials.

He reiterated the commitment of the University Administration towards ensuring that the students have access to materials that can make them compete with their colleagues globally.

The University Librarian, Dr. Abayomi Owolabi speaking at the exhibition asserted that the Nimbe Adedipe Library is one of the best academic libraries in the country with a wide range of high quality collections.

According to Owolabi, the library is blessed with dedicated and committed staff who are always willing to assist and support members of the University community in maximising the potentials of Nimbe Adedipe Library.

In his words: ” I can assure students and staff that the library has a wide range of collections and is one of the best academic libraries in the country. Aside from the material resources, we equally have dedicated and committed human resources who are always ready to assist and support service users”.

Laying emphasis to the commitment of the Vice-Chancellor in achieving the set goal for the Nimbe Adedipe Library, the University Librarian used the opportunity of the exhibition to inform members of the University community that efforts were in top gear to acquire more books based on the recommendation of the Deans.

“I can confirm to you that the Vice-Chancellor is committed to ensuring that the Nimbe Adedipe Library is the best among equals. To strengthen this resolve, Deans of Colleges will soon be asked to make recommendations for books that would enhance teaching and learning within the university.

Our University has a history of acquiring quality materials and the Vice-Chancellor is committed to raising the bar, Owolabi stated.

On staff, we are working assiduously towards enhancing the research visibility and output of the university’s academic staff as there will be step-up initiatives on effective utilisation of e-resources while postgraduate students would also be exposed to trainings that will assist them.
