French Academic from Réunion Crowned First Classic King International

Dr Stéphane Narcis, an academic researcher, educator and wellness advocate from Réunion Island, has been crowned the inaugural Classic King International 2026, representing France on the global stage.

The victory marks a milestone for the new male pageant, which emphasises character, intellect, culture, leadership and social impact alongside style and presence. Narcis, a foreign-language instructor and Distinguished Professor of Media and Communication, stood out through closed-door interviews, formal presentations and public voting rounds. Official leaderboards during the competition consistently placed France in the top position among finalists that also included strong contenders from Jamaica and Gambia.

Speaking after the announcement, Narcis described the moment as deeply moving. “I am proud, thankful, and at the same time very aware of the responsibility associated with the title. It was a moving moment when France was announced as the winner while representing the country internationally,” he said. He noted that the win carries particular resonance because of his roots on Réunion, a French overseas department in the Indian Ocean celebrated for its multicultural and Creole heritage. “I am proud of my Réunionnais identity and the richness it brings,” he has emphasised in related interviews.

Narcis’s path to the crown reflects a deliberate blending of academic work, community engagement and performance. He began as a researcher examining representation, ethnic minorities, culture and identity in French media and cinema. He later expanded into intercultural communication, civility training, coaching and human relationships. Dancing, particularly through Zumba and community movement sessions, became another vital channel. “Dancing then became yet another method which grew in importance as a way of interacting with my community,” he explained. “Classic King International thus brought together various aspects of my life which, although they might seem very different on paper, are in fact very closely connected. I learned from dancing that it is possible for people to connect even when they say not a word.”

One of the most meaningful elements of his campaign was a community dance project. Friends, family, colleagues and local residents of diverse ages, occupations and backgrounds came together through music and movement. “In those moments, the differences became secondary because people were sharing something,” Narcis recalled. He plans to expand this work under the banner of Vibe by Stéphane, developing inclusive community dance and wellbeing activities. Priority causes include cancer awareness, support for people with invisible disabilities, broader inclusion and mental wellbeing.

Narcis has already built a record of international recognition before this latest title. He was crowned Mr Globe Océan Indien 2025, representing the Indian Ocean region, and later Mr Perfect of the Year 2025 in a multi-country online competition. He has also been recognised in peace-focused pageants and holds multiple advanced degrees, including a PhD in Film Studies, higher doctorates and a post-doctorate by publication. His academic posts and awards include professorships in media, communication and intercultural studies, as well as the Mahatma Gandhi Global Peace Award.

He is clear about how he intends to use the Classic King platform. “I have always held the belief that being crowned does not determine the person who is wearing the crown,” he said. “I am very proud to have won the Classic King International. Yet after six months or a year I don’t just want people to remember that I had won a title. I want them to remember the things that I made with it, the people that I helped, and the people that I brought together. A crown means something to me whenever it is put to use.”

The inaugural Classic King International positions itself as a platform for modern male leadership that values intellect and social contribution alongside elegance. Narcis’s win, rooted in both scholarly work and community practice on Réunion, signals the direction the new title intends to take.
