The late former governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, was laid to rest today in Awka, the state capital, following a state funeral service held in his honor.
This funeral ceremony, which was aired on Arise TV on Saturday, saw dignitaries from various quarters paying their respects.
Dr. Ezeife served as the governor of Anambra State from January 2, 1992, to November 1993, during the Third Republic.
Among the dignitaries in attendance at the funeral service were Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, represented by his deputy, Mrs. Patricia Obila.
In his remarks, Governor Soludo praised the late Ezeife, highlighting his integrity and commitment to principles.

He emphasized that Ezeife not only preached about living right but also exemplified it in his own life, particularly in upholding the law.
However, Governor Soludo expressed concern about the violation of Anambra State Burial Laws during the funeral proceedings.
He condemned the printing of brochures, banners, and other materials for the burial, which is against the burial laws enacted in 2019 during the tenure of former governor, Willie Obiano.
Governor Soludo emphasized the need for consistent enforcement of the burial laws, stating that the law applies to all citizens regardless of status or wealth.
The funeral events for Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife included pre-burial ceremonies such as a service of songs and a celebration of his life and times in Abuja.
The state burial events culminated in a commendation service and interment in Awka, Anambra State, where the late governor was laid to rest.
The burial ceremony aimed to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, reflecting on his contributions to Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole.
