The private residence of the Minister of State of the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, located in Asokoro, was reportedly gutted by fire on Sunday, as reported by the Valid View Network.
Amiola Adebayo, the Acting Director of the FCT Fire Service, confirmed the incident, stating that the fire had completely destroyed the first floor of the building.
According to Adebayo, the fire started around 9:45 am, and although the Fire Service received a running call, they arrived at the scene after some delay.
He explained that the occupants of the building, who were on the ground floor, failed to notice the fire in time and did not call the Fire Service promptly.

Consequently, a running call was made to the FCT Fire Service after attempts to reach the Federal Fire Service were unsuccessful.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found the upper floor engulfed in flames.
Their primary objective was to prevent the fire from spreading to the ground floor and nearby structures.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
As of the time of reporting, the cause of the fire remained undetermined.
The minister’s media assistant, Austin Elemue, also confirmed the incident.
