After suspension of collation of results, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the candidate of the Labour Party, Alex Otti as the winner of the governorship election in Abia state.
Otti was declared the winner on Wednesday following the resumption of the collation of results.
Collation of results was suspended on Monday after thugs invaded the INEC office in Obingwa LGA and held electoral officials hostage.
Announcing the final result on Wednesday, INEC Returning Officer, Prof Nnenna Oti said the LP candidate polled 175,467 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahiwe, who scored 88,529 votes.
The Labour Party won in 10 LGAs, the PDP won in six LGAs, and Young Peoples Party won one LGA.
