The Gauteng Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a female suspect in connection with the horrific murder of 22-year-old Nigerian national, Isaac Satlat, an e-hailing driver killed during a violent hijacking in Pretoria West.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, has sent shockwaves across the continent after a graphic dashboard camera video of the attack went viral on social media. The footage depicts a male and female pair assaulting Satlat while he was behind the wheel.

A Journey That Ended in Tragedy
According to preliminary police reports, Satlat had picked up two passengers for what appeared to be a routine trip. However, the passengers—a man and a woman—turned on him, hijacking the vehicle. Satlat’s body and the stolen car were later discovered in the Atteridgeville area later that same day.

The “responsible” appearance of the female suspect has sparked a wave of disbelief online, as social media users grapple with the contrast between her outward demeanor and the gruesome nature of the crime.
Law Enforcement Action
Provincial Commissioner of Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, has assigned a senior detective to lead the investigation. While the female suspect is currently in custody, a manhunt is underway for her male accomplice.
”The police strongly condemn the circulation of the video that depicts what appears to be a gruesome murder,” the Gauteng police stated, urging the public to stop sharing the footage out of respect for the victim and the integrity of the investigation.
The arrested suspect is scheduled to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 16, 2026, where she faces charges of hijacking and murder.
Safety Concerns for Gig Workers
This tragedy has reignited intense debates regarding the safety of foreign nationals—particularly Nigerians—working in South Africa’s gig economy. E-hailing drivers continue to face high-risk environments, often falling victim to targeted robberies and xenophobic violence.

Authorities are currently reviewing dashcam footage and witness statements to reconstruct the final moments of the attack. They have urged anyone with information regarding the fleeing suspect to contact the nearest police station or the CrimeStop hotline.
