
ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rolled out a sweeping shake-up across key federal infrastructure, economic, and regulatory institutions, approving 26 high-profile appointments spanning 10 strategic government agencies and commissions.
The latest round of appointments, contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, features prominent political figures, technocrats, and retired military brass. All appointments take immediate effect.
Fayose Takes Charge at REA
In one of the most notable political placements in this batch, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has been named the new Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
Fayose will lead a revitalized board that includes Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. They will work alongside the incumbent Director-General of the agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors to drive rural power penetration.
Overhaul at the Wages and Salaries Commission
The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) received a comprehensive leadership overhaul with the appointment of Major General Junaid Bindawa (Rtd.) as its new Chairman.
The President also named former House of Representatives member from Lagos, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, as the Secretary of the Commission.
New regional commissioners appointed to the Wages Commission include:
- Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue)
- Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo)
- Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna)
Additionally, Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) were appointed as board members.

- Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC): Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, previously the Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has been redeployed as the new Secretary of the Commission.
- National Population Commission (NPC): Dr. Abuh Mohammed steps in as the new Director-General.
- Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET): Dr. Akinola Odeyemi assumes office as the Managing Director.
- Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission: Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin is the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
- National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM): Engineer Julius Oloro takes the helm as CEO at the Kwara-based institution, succeeding the late Dr. A.R. Kamal.
- Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC): Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu was named Chairman, heading a board comprising Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
- National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education: Shuni Muhammad Dahiru takes over as Executive Secretary.
- Federal Housing Authority (FHA): Gisaor Vincent Iorja—an economist, legal scholar, and secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC)—was appointed as Executive Director of Finance, replacing Mathias Byuan, who stepped down to run for the Benue State governorship.
