The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the alleged killing and robbery of a couple and their four children at Oloba Village in Lagelu Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were identified as Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward, all residents of the community. Police said the suspects allegedly invaded the family’s residence on September 22, armed with a locally made gun, two cutlasses and a club.

According to the police account, the attackers allegedly robbed the family of ₦200,000, a Boxer motorcycle, a Doma machine with chainsaw and a spraying machine.

FAMILY ATTACKED IN THEIR HOME

Police alleged that Akinbami shot the husband during the attack while the other suspects allegedly assaulted the wife. Two of the children were allegedly tied by their hands and legs and thrown into a nearby river.

The police said the remaining victims were killed and their bodies disposed of in the river. The remains of the wife have reportedly been recovered, while efforts continue to recover the remains of the other victims.

The arrests followed intelligence received by the command on October 2. Police detectives visited the scene and reportedly recovered a motorcycle belonging to the family, a locally made gun, two cutlasses and a club.

The command said the suspects confessed during interrogation. The suspects and case file are expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku for further investigation and legal action.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the allegations against the suspects remain subject to investigation and judicial determination. The scale of the alleged attack makes a thorough investigation essential, both to establish exactly what happened and to ensure that every person responsible is properly brought before the court.
