Maiduguri, Borno State
Families of children abducted nearly 100 days ago in Borno State have taken their demands to the streets, pleading with authorities to bring their children home.
The children were abducted from Mussa, near the Sambisa Forest, on May 15. ValidViewNetwork reports that about 45 children remain unaccounted for, while another June abduction in nearby Lassa left 36 students and a teacher in captivity.
The protest is significant because it puts a human face on Nigeria’s prolonged kidnapping crisis. For the affected families, military operations and official assurances mean little without the return of their children.
