EJIRO OTARIGHO, A TESTAMENT OF LOVE FOR HUMANITY , SELFLESSNESS AND UNCOMMON BRAVERY

The courage and bravery of Ejiro Otarigho, a tanker driver in Agbarho Town, Delta State , Nigeria has confirmed to us that Nigeria is blessed with great people who are sacrificially minded and are committed to their passion.

It is a great joy that at a time when some individuals will deliberately light up a tanker or even a government edifice in order to cover up fraud not minding the impact their actions would cause on individuals and infrastructures, Mr Ejiro demonstrated uncommon love, bravery , courage and commitment towards saving lives and properties. He is certainly a hero!

Mr Ejiro as seen in the video drove the burning tanker away from dangerous zone putting his own life on the line. He was not engrossed with his own ambitions but had before him a picture of the pains and hardship to follow had he decided to be selfish. He is a compatriot! Ejiro has given meaning to our national anthem where many particularly our political leaders have failed us.

Mr Ejiro certainly is not a rich man but has the milk of humanity flowing freely in his veins. He does not have a fat account, but he has a large heart full of compassion. He may not have been educated at the best Universities, but he has it written boldly on his chest that life is sacred and should be protected. He was ready to sacrifice his own life for others which is the pinnacle of any human intervention.

Before you kill to gain pecuniary benefits, before you put fire in that office to cover your tracks, before you siphon money meant to fight disasters always remember that there is one Ejiro who put his own life in danger to save lives and properties of others.

Ejiro has reinvigorated the Nigeria sacrificial spirit that was fast going into abysmal oblivion, and we must all take a clue from this. He is not rich physically but he is abundantly rich in compassion and love for fellow human beings and deserve every form of recognition by individuals, corporate bodies and the government at all levels. Rather than our youths celebrating individuals with ideologies and dispositions that are alien to us, the Nigeria spirit of selflessness should dwell richly. Rather than our politicians looking the other way at looming dangers because they are not directly affected , they should internalize the Ejiro template.
Ejiro by this singular act brought honor to his family , friends , his people in Delta State and Nigerians in general. He has given us a good news to dilute our murky and clouded negative news. He should certainly make the list of Great Men of 2022
