The embattled monarch, Olowode of Owode-Egba, Oba Kolawole Sowemimo who is currently in the eye of the storm following his suspension by superior authorities, has apologised.
The monarch got into trouble over one month ago while spraying bundles of new N1000 Naira notes in an obscene manner at a party he organized to mark his 13th Coronation Anniversary and 60th birthday of his wife, Toyin.
Oba Sowemimo act of strewning naira notes together in a long ring worn on the musician on stage, K1 de Ultimate, sparked outrage in the social media.
This prompted the Ẹgba Traditional Council headed by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo to suspend him for two months and stopped him from parading himself as an Oba while the suspension last.

However, the monarch, interviewed on a live radio programme, You and the Law, aired by Splash 106.7FM Abeokuta, pleaded with Nigerians to forgive him, saying he already learnt his lesson.
Said Oba Sowemimo:
” I don’t have any excuse to give. You know I am a royal father. I apologize first to Kabiyesi Alake of Egbaland and to all my fellow traditional rulers. My apology also goes to Nigerians generally.
“It will not happen again. All I can say is that I have learnt my lessons.
“I won’t be the first to go through this kind of problem and I know I will survive it too.
“People have been spraying Naira notes before. If people have not been doing it before, I would not have tried it.
“I will be careful next time. It will never happen again. I am very sorry.”
