The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have renewed commitments to deepen their operational synergy in tackling financial crimes and safeguarding national assets.
This renewed partnership was underscored during a courtesy visit by the Rivers State Commandant of the NSCDC, Dennis Lesor Reuben, to the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the EFCC. Receiving the delegation, the Acting Zonal Director, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE1) Hassan Saidu, emphasized that inter-agency collaboration remains indispensable for national security and the effective prosecution of economic crimes.
Commandant Reuben noted that the visit was a deliberate step to foster a seamless working relationship among frontline operatives. According to him, security agencies cannot operate in isolation, stressing that closer ties are vital for sharing intelligence and integrating field operations. He further solicited the EFCC’s support in capacity building and specialized training to enhance the operational readiness of NSCDC personnel.
In his response, Saidu lauded the Corps for its consistent support, particularly in safeguarding recovered assets such as seized vessels and real estate properties linked to public looters. He pointed out that the partnership is critical in ensuring that the proceeds of crime are securely managed and successfully forfeited to the Federal Government.
Both agencies concluded that despite their specialized mandates, national development and security can only be achieved through a unified front and mutual institutional dependence.
