LONDON — A pioneering criminal investigation has been launched in the United Kingdom after a police officer was accused of using artificial intelligence to fabricate evidence in multiple active cases.

​The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and Derbyshire Police confirmed that the officer has been sidelined from frontline duties while investigators probe allegations of perverting the course of justice.
