ASABA — A horrifying tale of greed, betrayal, and brutal murder has shaken the Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State. A 20-year-old native doctor, popularly known as “Son of Ikuku,” has been arrested alongside his mother and stepbrother for the alleged ritual murder of his 22-year-old client, Liberty Friday, and an innocent commercial motorcyclist.
The grim discovery of the victims’ mutilated bodies inside a septic tank has once again cast a harsh spotlight on the deadly allure of fast wealth among Nigerian youths and the predatory nature of modern ritual syndicates.
The Fatal Invitation
According to local reports and police sources, the tragedy began when “Son of Ikuku” contacted Liberty Friday, a suspected internet fraudster (commonly known as a ‘Yahoo Boy’). The native doctor claimed he had successfully prepared a potent charm designed to guarantee unprecedented success in Liberty’s cybercrime activities.
Liberty, who was with his girlfriend at the time, eagerly chartered a commercial motorcycle (Okada) to transport him to the native doctor’s shrine to finalize the spiritual procedure. Neither Liberty nor the motorcyclist would ever return alive.
A Web of Extortion
When Liberty failed to return home, his frantic girlfriend alerted his family. Suspecting foul play, the family confronted the native doctor. In a chilling display of deception, “Son of Ikuku” denied ever seeing the young man. He went as far as demanding ₦100,000 from the panicked family to “consult the gods” regarding Liberty’s sudden disappearance.
Shortly after the native doctor went radio silent, the family received a ransom call from unknown individuals claiming to have abducted Liberty. The kidnappers initially demanded a massive payout, which was eventually negotiated down to ₦500,000. However, the extortion plot crumbled when the family insisted on hearing Liberty’s voice before transferring the funds to a provided bank account. The callers abruptly hung up.
The Grim Discovery
Following a formal report, state police detectives launched a rigorous investigation that led straight back to the 20-year-old native doctor.
A thorough search of the suspect’s premises yielded a nightmare scenario. The bodies of both Liberty Friday and the unidentified motorcyclist were discovered dumped inside a septic tank. Law enforcement officials confirmed that several vital organs had been surgically removed from both corpses.
Further police interrogations revealed a sinister family conspiracy. The native doctor allegedly confessed to executing the double homicide with the active assistance of his mother and stepbrother. The innocent Okada rider—a father of five whose wife is reportedly inconsolable—was killed simply for being a witness in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Superstition Meets Organ Syndicate
The state police command confirmed that the native doctor and his accomplices are currently in tight custody, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine if the suspects are part of a wider organ-harvesting ring operating under the guise of traditional mysticism.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court immediately upon the conclusion of forensic investigations. State authorities have issued a stern warning to youths to desist from seeking shortcuts to wealth, emphasizing that the intersection of cybercrime and native mysticism invariably leads to destruction.
