As collation centers bustle with activity following the highly contested August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, global Afrobeats icon David Adeleke (Davido) has waded into the political arena. The superstar musician fired a stern warning at House of Representatives member Hon. James Faleke, accusing him of attempting to manipulate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle as polling figures continued to stream in, Davido—who is a nephew of the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke—demanded that external actors respect the democratic choice of the electorate.
The artist explicitly called out Faleke to desist from piling undue pressure on electoral officers to sway the outcome. He further emphasized that the people of Osun have spoken through their ballots, rejecting any trajectory that would favor former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
Early data monitored from the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) indicates a fiercely fought race across the state’s 30 local government areas, with stakeholders maintaining high vigilance as final results are awaited.
