In a significant breakthrough for security and peace in Katsina State, notorious bandit kingpins in Dan Musa Local Government Area voluntarily surrendered their weapons and released kidnapped victims on 14 June 2025. This development comes as part of the ongoing arms surrender and disengagement initiative spearheaded by Operation Fasan Yamma, in collaboration with local stakeholders and security agencies.
The group, which includes infamous figures such as Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black, handed over their arms and expressed their commitment to renounce banditry and embrace peaceful coexistence. The surrendered weapons have been securely taken into custody by security forces.
As a goodwill gesture, the kingpins released 16 kidnapped individuals—comprising seven women and nine children—who have since been safely handed over to Dan Musa local government authorities. The group also pledged to release all remaining captives in their possession by 15 June 2025.
Security officials confirm that the situation in Dan Musa LGA remains stable, with troops maintaining a strong presence and conducting continuous patrols to ensure lasting peace and prevent any resurgence of violence.
