The management and staff of the Federal College of Education, Ilawe Ekiti, have celebrated their Provost, Dr. Smart Olugbeko, following back-to-back prestigious leadership recognitions bestowed upon him by the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union.
Dr. Olugbeko, who previously served as the National President of COEASU, was decorated with the COEASU South-West Zone Award of Excellence Leadership in recognition of his enduring legacy, remarkable contributions, and dedication to the development of the teacher education system. Following this, he received the Visionary Leadership Award from the FCE (Special) Oyo chapter during the union’s annual week celebrations.
Highlighting the significance of the accolades, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Temilola Ajide, noted that the awards reflect the Provost’s visionary stewardship and immense service to the education sector. Colleagues and administrators particularly credited him for championing the transition of the Dual Mode Proposal into the Dual Mandate policy—a transformative framework designed to expand academic pathways, empower colleges to award bachelor’s degrees, and strengthen teacher training standards across Nigeria.
The college expressed optimism that the honours will further inspire the Provost’s drive toward institutional growth and educational innovation.
