During the 9th Matriculation Ceremony at Chrisland University, Dr. Kate Isa, the guest speaker, urged Nigerian students to pursue academic excellence by aiming for either a first-class or 2.1 degree.
She highlighted the competitive nature of Nigeria’s current environment, where organizations are actively seeking top talent to navigate economic challenges.
Dr. Isa emphasized the importance of avoiding selfish behavior and encouraged students to learn from the failures of the country’s leaders, emphasizing societal improvement.
Furthermore, Dr. Isa stressed the significance of seizing opportunities wisely and urged students to embody qualities such as hard work, intelligence, humility, and reverence for God, irrespective of gender, to foster future leadership.
She underscored the need for unity in addressing Nigeria’s problems, advocating for love and sincerity among citizens rather than divisive factors like tribe, gender, or religion.

Dr. Isa also advised against harboring resentment towards the country due to economic hardships, promoting prayer and collective effort for healing and progress.
Drawing from her own success story, Dr. Isa urged students and youths with ambitious visions to remain resilient against negativity and pursue their dreams diligently, disregarding discouraging remarks.
She discouraged the “Japa mentality” and stressed the importance of acquiring knowledge and contributing to Nigeria’s development upon returning. Dr. Isa concluded by urging Nigerians to demonstrate kindness, forgiveness, and collaboration for a brighter future.
Meanwhile, Professor Chinedum Babalola, the Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, called upon all universities in Nigeria to equip their students with the necessary skills to thrive in challenging times.
She emphasized the importance of utilizing their fields of study to address economic challenges and urged students to emerge as winners amidst the current state of the country.
Professor Babalola announced that matriculating students would now graduate with two certificates: a B.Sc. and an Entrepreneurship and Leadership certificate.
She highlighted the university’s growth in programs and student intake, declaring the theme of the programs to be “Overcoming and Winning Year,” with accreditation from the NUC and other educational bodies.
