China’s Consul General in Lagos, Yan Yuqing, praised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its robust investigative work and cross-border crime enforcement during a courtesy visit on Thursday. Leading a delegation to the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 office in Ikoyi, she met acting Zonal Director ACE1 Bawa Usman Kaltungo and highlighted the need for deeper collaboration between Nigeria and China to combat national and transnational financial crimes. This commendation underscores EFCC’s growing international partnerships in Nigeria’s anti-graft campaign.
EFCC’s efforts align with recent high-level engagements, including strengthened ties with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to tackle smuggling and revenue leaks through intelligence sharing and joint operations. The agency, under federal backing, has budgeted significantly for 2026 anti-corruption initiatives alongside the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), signaling a sustained push against economic sabotage. These moves reflect Nigeria’s non-partisan resolve to pursue corruption across sectors, bolstering economic stability.
