At least eight travellers lost their lives on Saturday ,April 12, 2025, following an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Maiduguri–Damboa Road in Borno State.
Report indicates that the tragic incident occurred when the victims’ vehicle drove over the IED, suspected to have been planted by insurgents operating in the area. The explosion led to a fire outbreak that consumed the vehicle, killing the occupants on board.
