Cubana Chief Priest Sues Kenyan Woman Over Paternity Allegations

Nairobi/Lagos — Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest has initiated legal action against Kenyan woman Hellen Mutimu, who claims he fathered her child following a brief encounter in Lagos in April 2022.

The dispute first surfaced publicly in January when Mutimu alleged that after giving birth, she repeatedly tried to contact Cubana Chief Priest for a paternity test, but was blocked on all communication platforms. Cubana Chief Priest has denied the allegations, calling them “baseless.”

According to court documents shared by DPA Family Clinic, Cubana Chief Priest filed the lawsuit in Kenya, naming Mutimu as the defendant. The suit seeks a restraining order to prevent Mutimu from sharing what Cubana’s legal team describes as “defamatory content” about him on social media while the case is ongoing.

The court document requests:

“An interim order of injunction restraining the Defendant/Respondent by herself, her agents, servants or assigns from publishing, uploading, sharing, or disseminating in any form or manner, defamatory content against the Plaintiff/Applicant on any social media platform or public forum.”

In response during an Instagram live session, Mutimu vowed to continue pressing for a paternity test, accusing Cubana Chief Priest of causing her emotional distress and homelessness. She also claimed he blocked supporters from assisting her and accused him of insulting her in private messages, which she says she has saved as evidence.

“This is not Nigeria where you think you can use your money; this is Kenya, my country,” Mutimu said. “I have not defamed you; I have only been calling you to come and do the paternity test, but you refused.”

Mutimu warned that the lawsuit would not silence her, promising to keep confronting Cubana Chief Priest publicly until he complies.

As of today, there has been no official statement from Cubana Chief Priest’s representatives beyond the court filing. The case highlights the complex cross-border nature of paternity disputes involving public figures and the challenges of addressing such claims through social and legal channels.
