Boseman Brothers Move to Oust Widow as Estate Administrator

​Nearly six years after the passing of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, a bitter family legal battle has erupted. The late actor’s brothers, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, have officially petitioned a Los Angeles court to remove his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, as the administrator of his estate.

​The court filing alleges that Taylor has failed to comply with a 2022 probate court order. Because the acclaimed actor died without a will in August 2020 at age 43, the court previously ruled that his estate be split evenly, granting a combined 50% share to his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, with Taylor retaining control of the remaining half.

​However, the brothers claim that communication has broken down and key assets remain undistributed. According to the documents, the unresolved estate includes upwards of $3 million across multiple bank accounts, movie residuals, royalties, intellectual property and image rights, investments, and a long-term care insurance policy designated for their mother.

​Kevin and Derrick are asking the court to hold Taylor in contempt, mandate a complete financial accounting within 30 days, and permanently replace her with private professional fiduciary and forensic accountant Jason Rubin. Furthermore, the petition seeks to bar Taylor from entering into major agreements regarding the actor’s legacy and likeness without explicit family approval. Representatives for Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman have not yet publicly addressed the new filings.
