Bolt Nigeria Restructures: 22 Employees Laid Off Amid Strategic Shift

The recent restructuring efforts at Bolt Nigeria, a technology-driven ride-hailing platform, have resulted in the layoff of 22 employees.

However, the firm’s Communications Manager, Femi Adeyemo, clarified on Tuesday that this action does not indicate financial difficulties but rather a strategic restructuring process.

Adeyemo emphasized that the layoffs affected a specific department with 45 workers, not nearly half of the entire Bolt workforce as reported by some outlets.

He assured that the affected employees would receive comprehensive severance packages to support their transition to new career opportunities.

In an official statement, Bolt reiterated that the decision to discontinue collaboration with 22 employees in Nigeria is part of a restructuring process involving customer support and operational processes.

The company affirmed its commitment to maintaining the quality of its products for riders and drivers while standing by its investment commitments in African markets.

Since its entry into the Nigerian market in 2016, Bolt has expanded its operations to over 45 countries and 500 cities, serving more than 150 million customers worldwide.

With over 3.5 million partners, including drivers and couriers, using the app to earn a living, Bolt remains dedicated to its mission of providing convenient and reliable transportation services across Africa and beyond.
