Billionaire Cancels Wedding After Fiancée’s Arrest

​BEVERLY HILLS — The high-society wedding between billionaire businessman Stephen Cloobeck and his fiancée, Adva Lavie, has been abruptly called off following a series of dramatic legal scandals involving allegations of grand theft and deception.

​The high-profile romance unraveled in early June, prompting Lavie to vacate Cloobeck’s $26 million Beverly Hills estate. Despite the shattered wedding plans and severe criminal charges, sources close to the former couple indicate that the billionaire remains on amicable terms with his ex-fiancée and continues to care for her.

​The pair had originally planned a lavish destination wedding in Jerusalem on June 12, even distributing “Save the Date” notices to family and friends before calling off the ceremony.

​The relationship’s collapse coincides with a mounting legal crisis for Lavie, who faces up to 11 years in prison. Her legal troubles deepened significantly this week when authorities arrested her at Azur, a Mediterranean hotspot in Beverly Hills, while she was dining with Cloobeck. Police intervened after discovering she was not wearing a court-mandated GPS monitoring ankle bracelet.

​The underlying charges stem from an April 2025 incident at the Coachella music festival in Indio, California. Investigators allege that Lavie targeted wealthy attendees at a rented Airbnb, stealing tens of thousands of dollars in luxury goods. One victim reported more than $25,000 in missing property—including high-end jewelry, credit cards, and designer cologne—while a second victim reported stolen jewelry, designer sunglasses, and an expensive wallet. Lavie subsequently faces felony grand theft charges for the festival incident.

​These allegations add to an already extensive rap sheet. Lavie was initially arrested in March and slapped with six felonies, encompassing two counts of grand theft, two counts of burglary, and two counts of unauthorized use of personal identifying information.

​Following her latest brush with law enforcement and the revelation that she violated bail conditions by removing her ankle monitor, prosecutors successfully argued to have her bond revoked. Lavie is currently held behind bars awaiting a crucial bail hearing to determine whether she will remain incarcerated until her trial commences.
