Former U.S. President Joe Biden’s aggressive prostate cancer has metastasized further into his bones and other parts of his body, taking a deeply painful and debilitating toll, his son, Hunter Biden, revealed in a candid interview.
Speaking with the BBC, an emotional Hunter Biden described his father’s worsening health as “really sad to watch”. “The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further,” he said. “It’s very painful and it’s very debilitating in many respects.”
Joe Biden, 83, first disclosed his diagnosis in May 2025—less than four months after leaving the White House as the oldest sitting president in American history. Medical evaluations at the time confirmed an aggressive form of the disease that had already reached his bones.
Despite completing a round of radiation therapy and managing ongoing treatments, the former president is expected to live with the illness for the remainder of his life, a reality former First Lady Jill Biden acknowledged earlier. Family members note that managing the disease requires constant, daily vigilance.
Even with the heavy physical toll, Hunter Biden noted that his father remains stubbornly engaged in public life. “He’s still out there. He’s still doing his thing,” Hunter said. “He so believes in this country.”
The update comes as the former president prepares for the release of his upcoming memoir, Promise Me, America, slated for publication following the midterm elections. While lingering political debates persist surrounding transparency over his health during his final months in office, friends and family continue to rally around him as he navigates his ongoing medical journey.
