MAKURDI – It was a somber Wednesday for the All Progressives Congress (APC) family in Benue State as three prominent youth leaders from Ogbadibo Local Government Area lost their lives in a fatal road accident along the Makurdi–Lafia expressway.
The victims, identified as Hon. Anawo Benjamin (Orokam Ward 3), Hon. Ogbe Enemari (Ai-Oono Ward 3), and Hon. Abraham Enenche (Olachagbaha Ward), were part of a delegation traveling to Lafia, Nasarawa State, to attend the party’s North Central Zonal Congress.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, when the vehicle conveying the party faithful crashed while en route to the convention. While the three leaders died at the scene, several other members sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The State Organizing Secretary of the APC, James Ornguga, confirmed the heartbreaking development, noting that the survivors were immediately rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, upon returning from the zonal congress in Lafia, visited the injured members at BSUTH to assess their condition. The Governor expressed deep shock over the incident, assuring the victims of the state government’s full support and the provision of quality medical care.
Similarly, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, the 2023 APC Benue South Senatorial candidate, described the loss as a “heartbreaking tragedy.”
”These young leaders were committed grassroots politicians whose dedication and loyalty contributed significantly to the growth of our party. This is a collective tragedy for the Ogbadibo family and the APC at large,” Onjeh stated.
The Senator representing Benue South and Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, also sent his condolences, describing the event as “traumatic and devastating,” particularly for the Ogbadibo community which lost three vibrant leaders in a single day.
As of Thursday evening, party supporters and families of the deceased have continued to throng the hospital and the party secretariat in mourning of the fallen youths.
