Suspected armed bandits launched a heavy assault on a base belonging to the Joint Security Task Force, Operation Burst, situated within a forest reserve along the Igbeti-Igboho axis in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The pre-dawn raid, which occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., saw the assailants arrive in large numbers wielding high-powered weaponry. According to local security updates, the attackers opened fire on the facility in an apparent attempt to overrun the post, eliminate stationed personnel, and cart away service weapons.
While the tactical effort to dislodge the operatives was successfully thwarted, the marauders torched an operational patrol van and a block within the security base. They also looted properties, including a generator and a motorcycle, before fleeing into the surrounding forest.
A joint reinforcement team comprising the military, civil defense, and sister agencies was promptly mobilized to the scene, though the suspects had already escaped. Authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded during the incident, and an intensive manhunt has been launched to track down the fleeing perpetrators.
