Prof. Ademola S. Tayo, Vice Chancellor of Babcock University in Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State, charged 3,432 newly admitted undergraduate and postgraduate students to shun cultism, hooliganism, and immorality during Thursday’s matriculation at the campus amphitheatre. As he nears the end of his two five-year terms on December 1, Tayo stressed discipline, diligence, humility, and faith as keys to success in a world facing economic instability and technological shifts. He congratulated the freshmen, noting their choice of Babcock signals commitment to holistic training for global impact.
Tayo outlined practical steps for thriving: regular class attendance, timely assignments, and respect for lecturers, peers, modest dressing, and institutional values of love, integrity, and accountability. Parents must partner to keep the Seventh-day Adventist campus free of vices like examination malpractice and corruption, he added. Students should seize opportunities in leadership, research, spiritual growth, and digital tools like smart classrooms and IPTV platforms.
Common campus threats in Nigeria—cultism, drug abuse, sexual harassment, indecent dressing, cybercrime, robbery, and thuggery—endanger learning and safety, Tayo warned, urging resilience against failure. Under his leadership, Babcock invested heavily in infrastructure, a modern data centre, and resilient energy to build 21st-century readiness. Graduates emerge as innovators and leaders, equipped with moral clarity.
