In a striking feat of courage and determination, Assistant Comptroller of Customs Akpevwe Ogboru, affectionately known as Tracta 2, completed a grueling 35-day motorbike journey from Nigeria to Belgium, arriving triumphantly at the Nigerian Embassy in Brussels at 12:47 p.m. on Thursday, September 4th, 2025.
Beginning her expedition on August 1st, 2025, Ogboru traversed two continents and ten countries, covering approximately 10,265 kilometers. Her journey was more than a test of endurance—it championed a vital cause under the banner “Ride for Women Inclusivity and Cross-Border Research.” The ride shines a powerful spotlight on gender inclusivity and girl-child empowerment while also promoting dialogue on connectivity, mobility, and cultural exchange across borders.

The triumphant arrival was met with great enthusiasm at the Nigerian Embassy in Brussels, evoking pride in the tenacity and spirit characteristic of Nigerians. Ogboru’s remarkable accomplishment stands as a beacon of inspiration for customs officers, Nigerians at large, and the global community alike, demonstrating the power of vision and resolve in overcoming barriers.

As she prepares for her journey back to Nigeria, this achievement underscores the Nigeria Customs Service’s dedication to fostering resilience, innovation, and inclusivity. The Service recognizes the symbolic importance of this adventure in projecting a positive image of Nigeria, enhancing diplomatic ties, and reinforcing the nation’s commitment to women’s and children’s empowerment.

Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, speaking on behalf of the service’s officers and men, praised Ogboru’s bravery and determination. He encouraged Nigerians to draw inspiration from her trailblazing effort, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to creating an enabling environment where bold, transformative initiatives like this can flourish, advancing not only the institution but also wider societal values.
