Jos, Plateau State – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bukuru ward, Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, has taken swift disciplinary action by suspending Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga. The suspension, attributed to alleged misconduct and anti-party activities, has also led to the formation of an investigation panel to thoroughly interrogate his actions, particularly his role as the self-proclaimed leader of the North Central APC Forum.
The move comes on the heels of the North Central APC Forum’s recent statement endorsing the “green cap movement” in Plateau State, an action that reportedly drew strong opposition from the Acting Publicity Secretary of the Plateau State APC. This endorsement, perceived as a direct challenge to the party’s stance, is understood to be a primary catalyst for Zazzaga’s immediate suspension.
Sources within the party indicate that Zazzaga’s history of public disagreements with the APC leadership stretches back to 2023. Notably, he reportedly initiated a lawsuit against the National Chairman of the APC and also publicly criticized the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, over alleged lopsided appointments favoring his kinsmen. While a lawsuit seeking to remove the APC National Chairman was dismissed by the Federal High Court, it highlights Zazzaga’s consistent critical posture.

Furthermore, Zazzaga’s open endorsement of the current Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration in Plateau State, despite being a prominent figure in the APC, has been widely seen as an act capable of undermining the APC’s political prospects in the state. Just yesterday, May 23, 2025, Zazzaga was reported to have stated that his North Central APC Forum would support the re-election bid of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the PDP, alongside President Bola Tinubu for 2027. This public declaration is likely a significant factor in the party’s decision to suspend him.

The investigation panel is expected to delve into these allegations, and its findings will ultimately determine Zazzaga’s fate within the APC, with a possible expulsion looming if he is found guilty of anti-party activities. The coming days are crucial as the political landscape in Plateau State awaits the outcome of this high-profile party disciplinary action.
