The National Association of Nigerian students in Sudan has confirmed that all stranded students in the crisis-ridden Sudan have been successfully evacuated from Khartoum.
The Public Relations Officer of the association, Amal Pantami, made the confirmation in a statement issued on Sunday.
“This is to inform the general public that all the remaining Nigerian students have been evacuated from Khartoum today Sunday 30th April, 2023,” the statement read.
“There were a total of 26 buses and each bus contained about 50 people.
“We continue to ask for everyone’s prayers and we hope all the students are able to reach Nigeria safely. We’re ever grateful for your continuous support and prayers.”
ValidViewNetwork had earlier reported that the largest commercial air line in Nigeria, Air peace had offered to evacuate the stranded Nigerians from the trobled Sudan at no cost.
The Federal Government on Sunday said it spent $1.2m on bus fare to evacuate stranded Nigerians to Egypt borders for onward airlifting to Nigeria.
The hostilities in Sudan have led to the death of about f400 while many are injured. Several voices including Pope Franc have urged warlords tom shealth their swords.
