Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has presented Instruments of appointment and staffs of office to two monarchs in Ilaje Local Government area of the state.

The event, which attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, government officials and stakeholders at Jirinwo and Oroto communities in Ilaje land, has His Royal Majesty, Oba Jackson Akinsowon Okorisa being presented with instrument of appointment and staff of office as the Olu of Jirinwo and His Royal Majesty, Oba Adewale Orisamoluwa as the Sepeluwa of Oroto.

Presenting the instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to the monarchs in their respective domains, the governor said the appointment was the outcome of the review of the report of the Justice AJAMA Committee on Chieftaincy Matters.

In a statement issued by the Head, Media and Publicity Unit, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abooulwa Famakinwa, the governor revealed that the six man panel that reviewed the Ajama report recommended that the Olu Jinrinwo of Jinrinwo and Sepeluwa of Oroto stools are recognised and upgraded from a minor chieftaincy status to obaship status.

He warned against appointing minor chiefs in disputed areas and other communities outside their kingship jurisdiction.

While appreciating stakeholders whose efforts ensured the successful realisation of the events, the governor urged the monarchs and other traditional rulers within the region, to work closely with the state government in promoting peace, unity, security and sustainable development in their various domains.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and cultural preservation.

The governor, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, enjoined the monarchs not to use the instrument of authority at their disposal to oppress and intimidate their perceived enemies.

He stressed that sustainable support would enable the continuation of more developmental projects and transformational initiatives to thrive across Ilaje land and the state in general.

Thanking the state government for the good gesture, the monarchs, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jackson Akinsowon Okorisa, the Olu of Jirinwo and Oba Adewale Orisamoluwa, the Sepeluwa of Oroto, expressed their profound gratitude to the Almighty God and the governor for the honour bestowed on them.
