Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to the security and welfare of youth corps members deployed to the state.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I corps members held at the permanent orientation camp in Ikare-Akoko, the governor assured incoming graduates of a secure, peaceful, and supportive environment throughout their national service year.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Segun Henry Omoyofunmi, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that protecting youth deployed to the state remains a top priority. He noted that the government continues to collaborate closely with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and security agencies to maintain a conducive atmosphere.
Focus on Entrepreneurship
Beyond safety, the governor challenged the new corps members to take full advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme. He stressed that practical entrepreneurial training serves as a crucial tool for financial independence and job creation long after the service year ends.
”The skills you acquire through this programme can become valuable tools for self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods beyond the service year,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
Calls for Discipline and Unity
Addressing the gathering, the NYSC State Coordinator, Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, commended the Ondo State government for its sustained assistance toward the scheme and camp infrastructural development. She urged the inductees to uphold high standards of integrity, respect local customs, and foster peaceful coexistence within their host communities.
The event marked the official induction of the corps members into the state, setting the stage for their upcoming primary assignments across various sectors of the local economy.
