MADRID — Authorities at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport arrested a 20-year-old Brazilian national last week after she arrived carrying 69 packages of cocaine concealed inside her body.
Police officers from Spain’s national drug enforcement agency, the Grupo de Estupefacientes de Policía Judicial, flagged the young traveler due to suspicious behavior during selective screening operations on September 9. Upon being isolated and questioned, the visibly nervous woman reportedly confessed that she was pregnant and smuggling a large quantity of narcotics internally.
According to reports from El Mundo, the suspect voluntarily expelled 16 packages from her genital area, which subsequently tested positive for cocaine. Following her transfer to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation, medical staff and investigators discovered an additional 53 packages hidden within her body. Investigators noted that these supplementary items featured specially molded anatomical designs intended to facilitate internal insertion.
