Air Force Personnel, Students, die in Adamawa Auto Crash

A tipper truck loaded with sand rammed into a tricycle carrying commuters along the Yola-Girei Expressway in Adamawa State, killing six persons, including an Air Force personnel and students.

Police said the victims were rushed to hospital where they were confirmed dead, as the Commissioner of Police commiserated with the families.

Tragedy struck on the Yola-Girei Expressway in Adamawa State on Friday, September 4, 2026, when a tipper truck loaded with sand rammed into a tricycle carrying commuters, killing six persons, including an Air Force personnel and students.

The accident occurred opposite the Distance Learning Centre of the Modibo Adama University, Bukar Mele, according to sources from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) , Girei.

The VictimsPolice Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said preliminary reports indicated that six persons lost their lives in the crash.

He confirmed that students and one Nigeria Air Force personnel were among the victims.

The victims were rushed to a hospital where they were confirmed dead, Nguroje said.Emergency ResponsePolice operatives from Girei Divisional Headquarters, Federal Housing and the Central Motor Traffic Division were immediately mobilised to the scene to evacuate the victims and restore normal flow of traffic.

The Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, commiserated with the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls.

The command urged motorists to drive with caution, obey traffic rules and avoid over speeding to prevent further loss of lives.
