ABEOKUTA – In a move highlighting the synergy between current and past leadership, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday, paid a courtesy visit to former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at his penthouse residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL).
The visit was primarily to express the state government’s profound gratitude to the elder statesman for his presence during the high-profile commissioning of several “landmark” projects by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last weekend.

Governor Abiodun, who was captured in a widely circulated gesture of respect prostrating for the former President, noted that Chief Obasanjo’s participation lent significant weight and statesmanlike prestige to the events. The projects commissioned by President Tinubu included the Gateway International Airport in Iperu-Remo, the launch of Gateway Air, the distribution of over 1,000 electric bikes, and the inauguration of the 30MW Independent Power Plant at Onijanganjangan.

”Chief Obasanjo’s presence was more than just a ceremonial gesture; it was a validation of the developmental strides we are making in the Gateway State,” Governor Abiodun remarked. “His wealth of experience and continued interest in the progress of Ogun State remains an inspiration to our administration.”
The Governor further emphasized that the presence of both current and former heads of state during the ceremonies underscored the national importance of Ogun’s emerging infrastructure, particularly the aviation and power initiatives designed to position the state as Nigeria’s premier industrial and logistics hub.

This visit to Obasanjo follows a similar appreciation visit by Governor Abiodun to President Tinubu in Lagos earlier that day, where the Governor presented the President with a symbolic “Jagaba” sword as a token of leadership and gratitude for the federal support of the state’s vision.
